What new windows cost comes down to two bills. The first covers the windows with extras and delivery, and you see it straight away in the configurator. The second covers fitting and making good, priced by your fitter. If you only count the price of the windows, your budget will usually fall short. Below are all the items in a window replacement, who supplies each one and what it depends on.
New windows cost with fitting and finishing

What makes a window replacement more expensive?
- Breaking out plaster and redoing the reveals. Each window then takes more work.
- Deciding late on a top-mounted roller shutter. The box changes the window height, so after ordering it means new measurements.
- A measuring mistake. Made-to-measure windows are exempt from the 14-day right of withdrawal (Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(c)), so a wrongly measured window means a new order.
- Ordering in batches. Each delivery is a separate transport.
- Windows waiting for the fitter. Long storage on site risks damage, and the protective film must come off no later than 4 weeks after delivery.
What lowers the cost without cutting quality?
- A renovation frame when replacing: it goes over the old frame without breaking out plaster. Availability depends on the system.
- Fixed panes where you do not need to open, and one sash with a fixed pane instead of two sashes.
- Colour outside only, white inside, instead of colour on both sides.
- All the windows for the house in one order. Delivery is spread over more items. We recommend at least 2 windows or one lift and slide door.
- Fitting by a tradesperson you choose. You pay them for the work and the manufacturer separately for the windows.
We have worked with windows since 1997, completed more than 5000 orders and exported windows since the late 1990s. The costliest mistakes we see are not about the window price but about size and opening side. That is why on every quote we check frame sizes, opening sides described from inside and item descriptions. Before production you get a drawing and specification to approve.
How to work out your budget for new windows
1. Measure each opening in three places and note the smallest value. Subtract the fitting gap, usually 2 to 3 cm. 2. Build your windows in the configurator. The price of windows and extras appears at once, after every change. Compare the same project in two systems. 3. Send the enquiry. Within 3 working days you get a quote with delivery. 4. With the window list and sizes, ask a local fitter to price fitting, removal and making good. 5. If you are counting on a grant, check its conditions before you order. Grants often require fitting by a contractor.
