Three things that most often decide whether buying windows goes smoothly. No filler.
How to measure a window correctly+
Measure the opening in three places — near the top edge, at mid-height and near the bottom — because walls are rarely perfectly straight. Use the smallest result for the order. Subtract the installation clearance, usually 2–3 cm in width and the same in height; foam and anchors fill that gap. Measure height from the level the window will sit on (allow for any base or threshold), not from the raw floor. In older buildings, also measure wall thickness and check for a hidden ring beam under the sill.
Thermal-modernisation relief in practice+
The relief lets you deduct expenditure on thermal-modernisation — including window replacement — from your income, up to PLN 53,000 per person. Conditions: the building must be existing (completed) and a single-family home, and you must be its owner or co-owner. It does not cover houses under construction. You deduct the invoiced amount; buying windows without installation, you deduct the real product cost. Preparing for installation without mishaps+
Order windows in advance — production usually takes several weeks, longer in season. Before delivery prepare covered storage: windows stand upright and leaning, never flat. Arrange people for unloading — a single triple-glazed sash can weigh over 100 kg. Check the openings are cleared and that the crew has all the fixing materials. On delivery, inspect glass and profiles before the driver leaves — transport damage must be reported immediately.
