uPVC window cost: what makes up the price

uPVC window cost explained: which components build the price, what raises it, what lowers it and how to see the price of your windows instantly.

What does a uPVC window cost? The answer depends on the profile system, the glazing, the size, the number of opening sashes, the colour, any extras and delivery to your address. There is no single rate per window, but you can see the price of your own windows straight away in our configurator, recalculated after every change. Below we break the uPVC window cost into its parts: no figures, but a clear picture of what actually moves the total.

We sell made-to-measure uPVC and aluminium windows and doors online and deliver regularly to Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Austria and Czechia, and to other EU countries once transport is agreed. We do not offer fitting: you pay for the product and choose and pay your own installer.

What makes up the uPVC window cost?

| Component | What it covers | What it depends on | |---|---|---| | Profile system | VEKA, Kömmerling, Salamander, Gealan, 76–88 mm profiles | profile depth, number of seals | | Glazing | double or triple glazing, warm edge spacer | safety, acoustic, solar control or obscure glass | | Size and layout | width, height, number of panes | more panes mean more profile and more welds | | Opening type | fixed, tilt and turn, French doors, tilt and slide, lift and slide | every sash adds hardware and seals | | Colour | white at base price, foil or colour | colour outside only or on both sides | | Extras | Aluprof roller shutters, fly screens, external sills, fitting materials | type of shutter and motor | | Delivery | a space on a transport rack | country of delivery and number of spaces; amount shown in the quote before you order | | VAT | rate of the delivery country, settled by us under the OSS scheme | rate and amount shown in the quote | | Fitting | not included in our price | your agreement with the installer you choose |

This is general information on VAT, not tax advice.

What pushes the price up?

  • More sashes. A window with two opening sashes costs noticeably more than one with a single sash and a fixed pane of the same size.
  • Triple glazing and special glass. Toughened, laminated or acoustic glass makes sense in specific places, not in every window.
  • Colour on both sides. Foil outside with white inside costs less and looks the same from the street.
  • Tilt and slide and lift and slide doors. Heavy sashes, rollers and tracks put them in a different price bracket.
  • A top-mounted roller shutter. The box sits on the window and adds to its height, so the decision has to come before you order.
  • Concealed hinges instead of visible ones.

Where can you save without losing quality?

  • In a wide opening, use one opening sash plus a fixed pane instead of two sashes. An opening sash must be at least 450 mm wide, so very narrow sashes are not possible anyway.
  • Put a fixed window where you never need to open it and can still clean it.
  • Order the whole house at once. Delivery is charged per rack space, so in a larger order it makes up a smaller share of each window. We recommend at least 2 windows or one lift and slide door.
  • Pick the system you need. If a cheaper system is enough for your house, we will tell you.

How do you compare our price with a local quote?

First check whether the local quote includes fitting. Ours does not, so you need either the product-only price or a separate fitting quote from a local installer. Then compare the specification line by line: system, glass, spacer, colour and the opening of each window. What counts is the Uw value of the whole window, not the glass alone. The manufacturer states it in the declaration of performance, and how to read it is explained here.

Many countries and regions run grant schemes for home improvements. They have conditions and often require fitting by a contractor, so check the official website of the scheme or ask an adviser before you order. Also bear in mind that made-to-measure windows carry no 14-day right of withdrawal: Directive 2011/83/EU (Article 16(c)) excludes it across the EU.

We have worked with windows since 1997 and have more than 5,000 orders behind us. The costly mistakes are rarely about the choice of system. More often someone gives the size of the opening instead of the frame, describes the opening side from outside, or decides on a top-mounted shutter too late. That is why we check sizes, opening sides and item descriptions on every quote before anything goes into production.

How to check the price of your windows in the configurator

1. Choose a system from our uPVC windows range. 2. Choose the glazing, then the colour and extras. 3. Add your windows: size, layout and opening side, as seen from inside. 4. The summary shows the price. You can price the same project in a second system and compare.

From the list in the configurator we prepare a quote including delivery within 3 working days. A person prepares it, not a script. Before production you get a drawing and specification to approve, then you pay 100 % and we start. Production takes 3–8 weeks, and you see photos of the finished windows before dispatch. The windows travel on racks to your address. Unloading is up to you: you need a forklift or 2–3 people. The delivery includes the declaration of performance and CE documents, and the GALI warranty runs for 2 years. Our export page explains delivery abroad, and the full price breakdown is in how much windows cost without fitting.
