People searching "MaPrimeRenov windows France" usually want to know one thing: will the French grant cover windows you buy yourself and fit without a contractor? No. In 2026 MaPrimeRénov' funds window replacement only as part of a whole-house renovation (rénovation d'ampleur), and the work must be done by an RGE-certified company. The rules have changed several times in recent years, so check the current position on france-renov.gouv.fr or with a France Rénov' adviser before you order.
What is MaPrimeRénov'?
It is a French state grant for work that improves the energy performance of homes. It is run by the Anah agency. The amount depends on household income and the scope of the work. We do not quote amounts, because they change with the scheme.
In 2026 the scheme has two routes for owners of houses and flats. The single-measure route (rénovation par geste) in mainland France covers a heat pump, among other things, but not new windows. Windows and French doors are funded only in a whole-house renovation (rénovation d'ampleur).
What conditions does the scheme set?
In 2026 a whole-house renovation comes with these conditions (according to france-renov.gouv.fr and service-public.gouv.fr):
- a free meeting with a France Rénov' adviser is compulsory before you apply;
- a Mon Accompagnateur Rénov' adviser must support you throughout the project;
- the home must gain at least two energy classes;
- at least two insulation measures are required, for example windows plus walls, roof or floor;
- the work is done by a company with RGE certification (Reconnu Garant de l'Environnement);
- in a detached house the heating after renovation must be low-carbon, and from 1 September 2026 there is no grant if gas heating is kept;
- windows and materials must meet the technical requirements of the decree (arrêté) of 17 November 2020.
Other French support, such as CEE, has its own conditions. Check them with a France Rénov' adviser.
MaPrimeRenov windows France: what if you buy without installation?
We sell made-to-measure uPVC and aluminium windows and doors without fitting. We are not a French installation company with RGE certification. If you buy windows from us and fit them yourself, or with a fitter without RGE, do not count on MaPrimeRénov'. We say this plainly because you cannot undo it after ordering: made-to-measure windows are exempt from the 14-day right of withdrawal (Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(c), across the EU).
Buying without installation can still pay off. Compare two totals: windows fitted by an RGE company minus the grant, and windows bought separately plus fitting by an installer you choose. The RGE company gives you the first figure; the second you can work out in our window configurator, which shows the price of the windows straight away. If you are considering having an RGE company fit windows you bought yourself, ask a France Rénov' adviser whether the grant would still apply. Do this before you order.
