Windows from Poland, Netherlands: buyer's guide

Ordering windows from Poland? Netherlands buyers get answers on quality, complaints, transport and fitting, plus a seller checklist.

Ordering windows from Poland? Netherlands-based buyers get a good result when the seller gives a full specification, sends a drawing for approval before production and states clearly who handles transport, unloading and installation. You then get windows on German-brand profiles, with a declaration of performance and CE marking, without paying for a Dutch showroom and fitting team. We have been shipping windows to the Netherlands since the late 1990s. Below we answer the questions buyers in the Netherlands ask before their first order: quality, complaints, transport and fitting.

Are windows from Poland lower quality?

Window quality depends on the profile system, the glazing unit, the hardware and the care taken in production, not on the country the factory is in. Our uPVC windows are made on VEKA, Kömmerling, Salamander and Gealan profiles, and our aluminium windows on Aluprof systems. We are an official dealer of All Windows Group (AWG), and the windows are built in the AWG factory.

Compare figures rather than promises. The key one is Uw, the heat transfer coefficient of the whole window. Kömmerling 88 MD reaches Uw from 0.73 W/(m²K), Salamander bluEvolution 82 from 0.75 W/(m²K). The value for your window is in the declaration of performance that comes with the delivery, together with the CE documentation. We explain how to read it in our article on the declaration of performance. Before the windows leave, you see photos of them on your order tracking page.

How do complaints work when the seller is in Poland?

The whole product carries a 2-year GALI warranty from delivery: profiles, hardware, sealed glazing units, roller shutters and motors. We are the guarantor, and the warranty applies in the country of delivery, so in the Netherlands too. You report a problem by email with your order number, a description and photos: the whole window and a close-up of the defect with a tape measure.

Two things to know in advance. Damage caused by incorrect installation is not covered, so your fitter should follow the manufacturer's instructions. Transport damage must be reported straight away: check the windows with the driver present, note any damage on the delivery note and take photos.

Made-to-measure windows are not covered by the 14-day right of withdrawal. This follows from Directive 2011/83/EU (Art. 16(c)) and applies across the EU. That is why you get a drawing and specification to approve before production, and that is the moment to check every item.

What does delivery to the Netherlands cost, and who unloads?

The windows travel on stillages to the site address. We charge transport per stillage space, depending on the country of delivery, and the amount is in the quote before you order anything. That is why we recommend at least 2 windows or one lift and slide door: with a smaller order, transport eats up the saving.

Unloading is your job, with a forklift or 2–3 people. There are no customs duties between Poland and the Netherlands, as both are in the EU. Our prices include VAT. For delivery to the Netherlands we charge the Dutch VAT rate and account for it ourselves under the OSS scheme. You see the rate and amount in the quote. This is general information, not tax advice.

Windows from Poland: Netherlands fitting and sub-frames

We do not install, survey or visit the site. You fit the windows yourself or with a contractor of your choice. You pay us for the product and settle the fitting separately, so you can see what each part costs.

In the Netherlands, windows are often fitted into a pre-installed sub-frame (stelkozijn). In the configurator you can choose a Dutch-style frame, with or without a fin. Availability depends on the system. If you are counting on an insulation grant in the Netherlands (ISDE or a municipal scheme), check the conditions with RVO or your municipality. Such schemes often require installation by a company.

How do you check a seller before paying?

1. The quote names the profile system, glazing unit, spacer bar, hardware, colour and the size of each window. 2. Before production you receive a drawing showing the opening side of every sash. 3. The delivery includes the declaration of performance and CE documentation. 4. Lead time, payment, warranty and guarantor are in writing. 5. Transport is stated as an amount in the quote, and it is clear who unloads. 6. The company shows an address and terms and conditions on its website and replies in your language, before and after the order.

With us you pay 100% before production, because the windows are made to your sizes. Production takes 3–8 weeks from receipt of payment, depending on system, colour, roller shutters and season.

Where do mistakes usually happen?

We have worked with windows since 1997 and completed more than 5,000 orders. In every quote we check sizes, opening sides and descriptions, because that is where most problems start. These three come up most often:

  • the size of the wall opening given as the frame size,
  • the opening side described from outside instead of from inside,
  • a top-mounted roller shutter added after ordering, although its box makes the window taller.

All of these are easy to correct at quote stage. Once you have paid, the sizes are locked.

Ordering without surprises

Build your windows in the configurator: you see the price straight away, after every change, and you can compare the same project in several systems. A person prepares the quote with transport to the Netherlands, and we send it within 3 working days. Have a window schedule from your architect? Send it through the contact page. The countries we deliver to regularly are listed on our export page, and why the price is lower is explained in Windows from Poland without middlemen.
