uPVC window prices depend on a handful of choices: the profile system, glazing, size and layout, how the window opens, colour and extras. Delivery and the destination country's VAT come on top. There's no single price per window, but you can find yours in a few minutes: our configurator shows it straight away and recalculates after every change. Below we break the price down so you can see which choices push it up and which bring it down.
Why don't uPVC window prices work per square metre?
The most expensive parts of a window are around its edge and in the sashes: hardware, seals, welded corners. The glass in the middle costs less than you'd think. That's why one large window usually costs less than two small ones with the same total area, and a window with two sashes costs clearly more than a fixed light of the same size. A price "per m²" describes the simplest white window, and a real order rarely looks like that.
What goes into uPVC window prices?
The table shows which choices keep the price down and which raise it.
| Item | Cheaper option | More expensive option | |---|---|---| | Profile system | 76 mm with outer seal (AD) | 82–88 mm with centre seal (MD) | | Glazing | double glazing | triple glazing, safety, acoustic, solar control glass | | Opening | fixed light | tilt and turn, then tilt and slide and lift and slide doors | | Layout | one sash plus a fixed light | two or three sashes | | Colour | white (base price) | colour outside or the same colour on both sides | | Hinges | visible | concealed | | Extras | none | roller shutter, fly screen, external sill |
The pricier option isn't needed everywhere. Laminated glass makes sense on the ground floor, acoustic glass facing the street, triple glazing in a house that should lose little heat. When double glazing is enough is covered in our article on glazing.
What else is added to the window price?
- Delivery: the windows travel on stillages. We charge per stillage place according to the destination country and give the amount in the quote before you order. With a single window, delivery eats up the saving, so we recommend at least 2 windows or one lift and slide door.
- VAT: prices include VAT. For delivery to another EU country we charge VAT at that country's rate and account for it ourselves under the OSS scheme; the rate and amount are in the quote. This is general information, not tax advice.
- Installation: we don't sell it. You pay us for the product and settle the fitting separately with an installer you choose. Foam, tapes, anchors and wedges can be added in the configurator.
How do you check the price of your window?
Start with the simplest version: a white tilt and turn window at your size, in a 76 mm system. Then change one thing at a time (glazing, colour, layout, shutter) and watch the price. You'll see which extras are worth paying for. You can price the same project in several systems, and finally add all your windows, because delivery is spread over the whole order. Our article on how to price a window in 5 minutes explains the configurator.
Where is it easiest to lose money?
We have worked with windows since 1997 and completed more than 5,000 orders. Mistakes cost more than options. A window ordered to the opening size instead of the frame size won't fit the wall. An opening side described from outside gives a sash that opens the wrong way. A top-mounted roller shutter added after ordering means a new window, because its box adds to the height. That's why we check sizes, opening sides and descriptions before sending the quote, and you get a drawing to approve before production. Once 100% payment is made the sizes are locked, and made-to-measure windows can't be returned within 14 days (Directive 2011/83/EU, Art. 16(c)).
Second: don't pay for performance you don't need. If a cheaper system meets your needs, we'll tell you. Compare systems and their Uw values on the uPVC windows page, and read more about pricing in what makes up the price of windows without installation. The price of your window appears straight away in the configurator, and we'll prepare a quote including delivery within 3 working days.
