Windows from Poland: what makes up the price

Windows from Poland: what drives the price (profile, glazing, opening type, colour, transport, VAT), what lowers it and how to check it online.

Windows from Poland cost less because you buy the same German-brand profiles without paying for a showroom, sales reps and installation bundled into the price. What you finally pay depends on a handful of components: the profile system, the glazing, the number of opening sashes, the colour, extras and transport on stillages. You see the price of the windows straight away in our window configurator; transport and VAT are in the quote before you order.

We have been shipping windows to Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland since the late 1990s, and in 29 years we have completed more than 5,000 orders. Below we break the price down in the same order we check every enquiry before writing a quote.

Where does the price difference come from?

A local window company usually charges one sum for the window, the survey, fitting, disposal of the old frames and the cost of running a showroom. From us you buy the product only: uPVC windows on VEKA, Kömmerling, Salamander and Gealan profiles or aluminium windows by Aluprof, made in the All Windows Group (AWG) factory, for which we are an official dealer. You arrange fitting yourself or with an installer you choose and pay separately.

Quality does not depend on the seller's country. A window from Poland carries the CE mark and a declaration of performance, because the same product standards apply across the EU. How to read the declaration and compare quotes is covered in a separate article.

Windows from Poland: what makes up the price?

| Component | What you choose | Effect on price | |---|---|---| | Profile system | uPVC 76–88 mm or Aluprof aluminium | a deeper profile with a centre seal (MD) costs more but improves the Uw value | | Glazing | double or triple, toughened, laminated, acoustic, solar control glass | every glass option is a surcharge based on glass area | | Size and layout | width, height, number of panes | cost grows with the perimeter and the number of sashes, not just the area | | Opening type | fixed, tilt and turn, balcony door, tilt and slide (PSK), lift and slide | a fixed window is cheapest; lift and slide doors are a price class of their own | | Frame | standard, renovation frame, Dutch frame (NL) | depends on the system, shown in the configurator | | Colour | white, foil outside, the same colour on both sides | white is in the base price; colour is extra, both sides more | | Extras | Aluprof roller shutters, fly screens, external sills, fitting materials | separate lines in the quote | | Transport | stillage space by delivery country | amount in the quote; on larger orders it spreads over more windows | | VAT | rate of the delivery country (OSS) | shown in the quote |

Two rows need a comment. We charge transport per stillage space, not per window, so we recommend ordering at least 2 windows or 1 lift and slide door. We deliver regularly to Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Austria and Czechia, and to other EU countries once transport is agreed. Prices include VAT at the rate of the delivery country, which we settle ourselves through the EU OSS scheme, and there is no customs duty between EU member states. This is general information, not tax advice.

What pushes the price up, and what brings it down?

The price goes up with:

  • colour on both sides instead of outside only,
  • two narrow sashes where one would do,
  • special glass in every window, including where it adds nothing,
  • a top-mounted roller shutter added after the quote (it changes the window height, so we recalculate the item),
  • ordering a single window, because transport falls on one unit.

The price comes down with:

  • one opening sash plus a fixed pane instead of two sashes,
  • white, or colour outside with a white interior,
  • laminated glass on the ground floor, acoustic glass facing the street and standard glazing elsewhere,
  • the whole house in one order,
  • a system matched to your needs rather than the deepest profile on the list.

The last point is about regulations. In Germany, the GEG (Annex 7) requires a Uw of no more than 1.3 W/(m²K) when replacing windows in residential buildings, and 1.6 W/(m²K) for lift and slide doors. Triple-glazed windows in 76–88 mm profiles meet this comfortably, so an 88 mm profile is a choice for better insulation, not a legal must. In other countries, check the local requirement. The difference between Uw, Ug and Uf is explained here. Grants such as BAFA or KfW in Germany have their own conditions and often require fitting by a company, so check them with the relevant body or an energy adviser before you order.

How do you check the price in the configurator?

1. Choose the profile system. You can price the same project in two systems and compare. 2. Choose the glazing, then colour and extras. 3. Add your windows: frame size, layout, how each pane opens, roller shutter, fly screen, sill. 4. Check the summary. The price updates after every change, so you see at once what a second colour or a third pane costs.

The configurator respects technical limits. An opening sash must be at least 450 mm wide and a door leaf no more than 2300 mm high. Once you send the enquiry, you get a quote with transport and VAT within 3 working days, prepared by a person.

What should you watch before comparing quotes?

The most common mistakes we see in enquiries are in the data. Someone gives the size of the wall opening instead of the frame size. Someone describes the opening side from outside, while we need the view from inside the room. That is why you get a drawing and specification to approve before production. Check every item, because made-to-measure windows are excluded from the 14-day right of withdrawal (Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(c)).

When you compare with a local quote, remember what is on your side: unloading the lorry (a forklift or 2–3 people) and fitting. After 100% payment, production takes 3–8 weeks, and you see photos of the finished windows before dispatch. The whole product carries a 2-year GALI warranty. It does not cover damage caused by incorrect fitting.

Price your own project

The quickest way is the made-to-measure window configurator, which shows the price at once. If you have a window schedule from your architect, send it through the contact form. How we calculate prices in detail is in What do windows cost without installation, and the ordering process is described in Windows from Poland without middlemen. Delivery terms abroad are on the Export page.
